Changing the Video Input on the Flat Panel Display

The flat panel displays used in the digital lab can accept a video signal from multiple sources. There are two sources hooked up to the display:

  • Display Port: Attached to the video card on your desktop computer (default)
  • VGA: Can attach to the Basys 3 FPGA board

The default input is the display port which displays your desktop computer.

This tutorial will explain how to change the video input for your display (so you can switch between your board and the desktop computer). Your monitor has four buttons in the bottom right corner as shown below:

The function of the buttons from left to right are:

  • Menu Button
  • Scroll Down
  • Scroll Up
  • Enter

After pressing the menu button to activate the menu, the display menu pops up:

Using the middle two buttons, scroll down until you select the Input Control option:

Press the enter button. On the new menu, select “VGA” to access the VGA input from your board (select the Display Port input to switch back to your computer):
